CAVE OF THE WINDS
This fun attraction in the Springs is a gem! It has great views (right by the Manitou Cliff dwellings), lots of history, and plenty for the tiny ones to do. One of those well-rounded spots for families 👨👩👧👦
-The cave has a great deal of history. It was discovered in the late 1800s, and geologists have continued to find new rooms and crevices through the 1900s. I found that pretty neat how nature continues to surprise us 😆
- The cave tour is fun for families, my kindergartener had SO many questions and found it exciting. The littler kids might struggle to not touch the walls or stalagmites/stalactites, so if you have rowdy tots (what tot isn’t rowdy?) just be sure to remember that (but don’t worry the tour guide will remind you!).
-Outside the tour you’ll find rock wall climbing, a giant canyon swing 😱, gold panning, a play area, and some INCREDIBLE views.
Some notes:
☀️ This is not a stroller friendly attraction. It’s a cave so it’s tricky at times.
☀️ Snacks are not allowed on the tour, but they do have a cafe onsite so you can eat before or after!
☀️ Buy tickets beforehand, this can fill up during the busy season!
☀️ Bring a light jacket and comfortable shoes. It can get a bit chilly, and the tour is close to an hour of walking.
☀️ Do not recommend this if you are claustrophobic. I’m saying that as a kind warning 😄 There’s some tight squeezes and low ceilings.
We enjoyed this Colorado tourist attraction so much! Some of these touristy things can seem cheesy, but our whole family really enjoyed this little trek and I recommend it!
