FUN FACT: the term “honeymoon” comes from the old European tradition that if a bride drinks plentiful amounts of mead (or honey wine 🍯) in the month following her wedding, she would become “fruitful” and have a child within the year.

Ok enough of the history lesson 😂 Did you know Castle Rock has it’s very own meadery? Whether or not you want to be “fruitful” you can go enjoy a glass of this delicious wine right here in town at Honnibrook. Mead is just sweet enough, not too syrupy, so you’ll never be sugared out.

They also offer 20+ flavors! I enjoyed a Samoa mead (coconut and chocolate) and Elderberry, while my husband ordered Island Hopper and Blueberry Lavender. All of them were different from the next, so if one doesn’t work for you, try another and you may have a totally different experience! 🥂

Best of all, kids are welcome! We were greeted right away by one of the bartenders with bags of Pirate Booty. They also offer sodas and have food trucks onsite often. If you check out their page, you can see what live entertainment they may have on the weekends!

We toasted with mead at our own wedding...no I did not drink it for a month 😂 but we love to enjoy it time to time still, and I love that there’s a casual, family-friendly meadery right in town.
