KID2KIDLIT WRITING CAMPS โ๏ธ
My big kid has a huge imagination, and what better way to channel that into creating stories? I love to encourage her and praise her for any creative effort, but Iโm not always the best at guiding through the best process to help her grow and learn.
Kid2KidLit Writing Programs were developed right here in Castle Rock by seasoned educators and published authors ๐คฉ So these are actual pros and child whisperers fostering a love of storytelling.
So whatโs up? What do kids do at โwriting campโ?
๐ For this camp, the kids spent a morning making pizza at 212 Pizza. They went through the steps and processes, then used that to fuel their creativity for writing out a story.
๐ง The kids learned about formulating a beginning, middle and end to their story.
โ๏ธ They conceived a story idea and put their ideas down with Ms. Dawn
๐ซ Kids shared and brainstormed, learning from each other!
๐ The kids left camp with their very own laminated book, complete with their own illustrations ๐
Do kids have to be well versed at writing and spelling? No! My daughter is in 1st grade and in the thick of learning how to spell. Spelling is only one formality in creating a story ๐
Did she love camp? YES ๐ She asks to go back all the time. Dawn (one of the owners) is magical at helping kids feel empowered at creating and owning the process. Kids leave camp feeling heard and supported.
