Kids Eat Free!

Feeding fish in Colorado mountains? The best way to break up a hiking day in Rifle! 🐟

The RIFLE FALLS FISH HATCHERY is free to visit and fun quick visit…unless your kids want to feed every fish, which mine nearly did 😆

A quaint visitors center outside is staffed during warm months with kind people to answer your questions and hook you up with fish food (the sign says 25 cents, but maybe we were there on a free day!).

🥾 You can hike there from Rifle Falls State Park (about 2.5 miles) along the beautiful Bobcat Trail or along the main access road.

🎣 They raise mostly rainbows and cutthroats, but also a hybrid of the two called cutbow trout. They also raise brown trout but you can only see them inside, which wasn’t open to the public.

Open daily 8a-4p!
