DAVIS PONDS TRAIL @ STAUNTON STATE PARK π£
Need a flat stroller-friendly trail? Welcome to Davis Ponds Trail, where we passed many families hiking and jogging with little ones on wheels! πΆ
Staunton State Park boasts so many varying trail types (biking, hiking, ATVing), but coming across a flat, stroller friendly trail is always a pleasant surprise.
πΊ 2.3 mile loop- This trail has a couple route options, but all roads lead back to the trailhead so you wonβt get lost.
β° Only an hour from Castle Rock, in Pine, CO.
π½ There are restrooms at the Visitor Center (close to the trailhead) and at the ponds near the end.
π§Ί Plenty of picnic spots! Some of them are shaded/covered.
π The visitor center has a great area for kids to play and explore. I personally loved reading about the Stauntons and how the land was used before it was acquired (fun fact, one part of the park was once used as a nudist colony π)
π£ You can fish at the pond once you reach the furthest end of the loop! The pier is ADA accessible but you need to make accommodations at least 2 days in advance according to the website.
π There is a parking lot near the trailhead, but just know itβs not huge and fills up in busy days. We got lucky π
π Requires a state park pass, you can purchase day passes there.
Weβre out of strollers for good, but having a wheel-friendly option is so important, more than just for babies. I love knowing that people of all abilities can enjoy these wonderful state parks.
**There may be a couple of steep spots if you do not have brakes for your stroller.
